Search Continues for Two Missing Individuals in Phayao Forest

As of August 13, 2026, authorities in Phayao province are continuing an intensive search for two relatives who have been missing in the forest for six days. According to reports from Khaosod Online, 74-year-old Mr. Nak Khamlue and his 20-year-old nephew, Mr. Rames Jan-daeng, entered the forest in the Chiang Muan district on August 8 to forage for mushrooms and have not been heard from since.

Search teams, including local administrative officials, Doi Phu Nang National Park rangers, village security units, and volunteers, have been deployed to scour the area. The search efforts are focused on the last known coordinates provided by the pair before their mobile phone battery was depleted. Despite searchers reporting signs such as a campfire and sounds resembling human calls, the individuals have not yet been located. Teams are currently operating in three groups, covering the area near the Pi River.
