Thailand Announces Work Permit Renewal Deadline for Migrant Workers
The Department of Employment has issued a reminder for employers to renew work permits for migrant workers from Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam by December 11, 2026.
According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand on August 13, 2026, the Department of Employment (DOE) has officially reminded employers to initiate the work permit renewal process for migrant workers from Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam. This directive follows a Cabinet resolution from July 14, 2026, which allows these workers to extend their stay and employment in Thailand for an additional year.
Somchai Morakotsriwan, Director-General of the DOE, stated that the extension applies to workers whose current permits are set to expire on December 11, 2026, as per a previous resolution from November 2025. Eligible workers who complete the renewal process will be permitted to remain and work in the country until December 11, 2027.
