According to the Thai Enquirer, the House Committee on Legal Affairs, Justice, and Human Rights announced on Thursday that between 1,000 and 1,500 cases of suspected citizenship fraud have been identified. The investigation centers on allegations that children were registered for Thai citizenship using sham fathers at eight medical facilities across Bangkok.

This inquiry originated from a 2023 online shopping scam investigation, which eventually directed law enforcement toward an alleged Chinese scam leader identified as Chen.
