Authorities Seize 300kg of Crystal Methamphetamine in Chiang Rai
Thai security forces intercepted a major drug trafficking operation in Chiang Rai, seizing 300 kilograms of crystal meth and arresting two suspects.
On August 13, 2026, at approximately 2:00 AM, a joint operation involving the Chiang Rai Narcotics Suppression Unit and the Pha Muang Force’s 'Thap Chao Tak' task force successfully intercepted a large-scale drug trafficking attempt. According to a report by Khaosod Online, authorities acted on a tip-off regarding a convoy transporting illicit substances toward the country's interior.
During the operation, officials seized nine sacks containing a total of over 300 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine. Two suspects were apprehended at the scene, while other individuals involved in the transport reportedly managed to escape. The convoy consisted of four vehicles, including a green Honda City used to transport the narcotics and a grey Toyota Yaris.
