Local Official Disciplines Youths Over Toy Gun Incident in Nonthaburi
A village headman in Nonthaburi intervened after two teenagers were spotted carrying realistic toy firearms, causing public alarm.
On August 13, 2026, Pannathorn Temnak, the village headman of Bang Khu Rat in Nonthaburi’s Bang Bua Thong district, reported an incident involving two youths aged 14–15. According to Khaosod Online, the official was conducting a routine patrol focused on narcotics and weapons when he received a report from local health station staff regarding two boys carrying firearms near a school fence at the entrance of Soi Wat Tem Rak Samakkhi.
Upon investigation, the headman located the youths and discovered that the weapons were realistic plastic replicas, including a model resembling an 11mm pistol with a magazine and a Colt-style handgun. To address the public alarm caused by their behavior, the headman ordered the boys to perform 20 squat jumps as a disciplinary measure. The youths were subsequently released to their parents.
For residents and visitors, this incident highlights the sensitivity surrounding public displays of imitation weapons in Thailand. Even if items are non-functional, carrying realistic replicas in public spaces can trigger police or community intervention due to the potential for public fear.
