Consumer Confidence Rises in Thailand Following 'Thai Helps Thai Plus 60/40' Initiative

The University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce reports a second consecutive month of rising consumer confidence, attributed to the 'Thai Helps Thai Plus 60/40' program.

According to a report by Prachachat Business, the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce (UTCC) has announced that Thailand's consumer confidence index reached 51.8 in July 2026. This marks the second consecutive month of growth, which the UTCC identifies as a positive trend for the national economy.

Officials point to the 'Thai Helps Thai Plus 60/40' initiative as a primary driver for this recovery. The program is credited with boosting public sentiment, effectively providing participants with the equivalent of an additional 1,000 baht in monthly purchasing power. This increase in perceived disposable income has encouraged more active consumer spending across the country.

For residents and visitors, this shift suggests a more vibrant retail and service environment as the year progresses. The Chamber of Commerce anticipates that the economy will enter an upward trajectory starting in the fourth quarter of 2026. While the current data reflects a positive outlook, the long-term sustainability of this growth remains to be confirmed. Observers are particularly focused on whether this momentum in purchasing power will persist beyond October 2026. As of now, the UTCC remains optimistic that the current economic recovery will continue to gain strength through the end of the year.
