Thailand Announces New Residential Electricity Tariff Structure Starting September 2026

According to a report by Prachachat Business, the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) of Thailand has officially approved a revised electricity tariff structure for residential users. Dr. Poonpat Leesombatpaiboon, Secretary-General of the Office of the ERC and spokesperson for the commission, announced that the new rates will take effect starting with the September 2026 billing cycle.

Under the new framework, the average electricity rate across all consumer categories will decrease from the current 3.95 baht per unit to 3.86 baht per unit. A key feature of this adjustment is the introduction of a new residential tier, where the initial units of electricity consumed will be priced at no more than 3 baht per unit.
