Authorities Seize 20,000kg of Illegal Frozen Beef in Chumphon
The Phra Phirun Center intercepted a large shipment of smuggled frozen beef in Chumphon province, valued at 2.8 million baht.
On August 10, 2026, at approximately 10:00 PM, the Phra Phirun Center for Agricultural and Food Security, in collaboration with local police and animal quarantine units, intercepted a 22-wheel truck carrying 20,000 kilograms of illegal frozen beef. According to Khaosod Online, the operation took place at a gas station in the Pathio District of Chumphon province.
Sorawut Nueangchamnong, Secretary to the Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, stated that the truck was intercepted while allegedly transporting the illicit cargo from southern Thailand toward Samut Sakhon province. A 38-year-old driver was apprehended at the scene during the inspection. The seized goods are estimated to have a market value of 2.8 million baht.
For residents and travelers, this incident highlights ongoing efforts by Thai authorities to regulate the food supply chain and prevent the distribution of uninspected agricultural products.
