Public Consultation Held for Mae Ramphueng Wetland Conservation Project
The Department of Water Resources has initiated public discussions regarding the preliminary study for the conservation and restoration of the Mae Ramphueng Wetland in Prachuap Khiri Khan.
On August 11, 2026, the Department of Water Resources, alongside consulting firms Team Consulting Engineering and Management and Siam TC Technology, hosted a public hearing in Bang Saphan, Prachuap Khiri Khan. The meeting focused on the preliminary findings of a feasibility study, survey, and design project aimed at the conservation and ecological restoration of the Mae Ramphueng Wetland.
Presided over by Bang Saphan District Chief Nimit Wongjinda, the event served as a platform for government officials, private sector representatives, local organizations, NGOs, and community members to provide feedback on the proposed management framework. Dr. Thepparat Wiriyothin, Director of the Water Resources Conservation Division, presented the project's objectives, which include establishing a master plan for the sustainable management of the wetland area.
For residents and visitors, this project signifies a potential shift in how the local environment is managed, aiming to protect the natural resources of the region. While the meeting allowed for stakeholder input, the final master plan and specific implementation strategies remain to be confirmed. The project is currently in the study and design phase, and further developments will depend on the integration of the feedback gathered during this consultation process.
