The incident occurred around 7:00 a.m. when the mother fell into a deep sleep. Her infant daughter rolled over, causing a blanket to cover her face, which restricted her breathing.
The cat reportedly noticed the distress and attempted to pull the blanket away with its mouth. When that failed, the animal ran to the mother’s bed to wake her. Initially confused, the mother followed the cat back to the infant’s side, where she discovered the child’s head was completely covered.
