Police Summon Suspects in Khon Kaen Temple Land Dispute
Authorities have issued summonses following a blockade at Wat Pa Adulyaram, where a land ownership dispute between heirs and the temple has escalated.
According to Khaosod Online, police in Khon Kaen have issued summonses for a woman identified as 'Pa Da' and three van owners in connection with a recent blockade at Wat Pa Adulyaram. The incident involved a group of 30 to 40 individuals who obstructed the temple's entrance using concrete pipes.
The conflict stems from a 21-rai land plot donated to the temple by a man named Hiang in 1990. While the temple has occupied the land for decades, the donor's heirs claim the transfer was never officially finalized. The dispute previously reached the courts, where both the primary and appellate courts ruled in favor of the temple. Following these legal setbacks, the recent physical blockade occurred.
Police Colonel Yotsawat Kaewsuebthannit stated that investigators are currently tracking the concrete mixer truck used in the blockade, which is believed to be registered in Khon Kaen. Authorities are gathering evidence and conducting detailed interviews with temple representatives before formally pressing charges against any individuals.
For residents and visitors, this situation highlights an ongoing local property dispute.
