Search Enters Sixth Day for Two Missing Villagers in Chiang Muan Forest
Authorities in Phayao province have deployed five search teams to locate two villagers who have been missing in the Chiang Muan forest for six days.
As of August 13, 2026, search operations have entered their sixth day in Phayao province to locate two villagers reported missing in the forest of Chiang Muan. According to Khaosod Online Thailand, the missing individuals are 74-year-old Mr. Nak Khamlue and 20-year-old Mr. Rames Jandang, both residents of Ban Pin, Moo 3, Chiang Muan sub-district.
Chiang Muan District Chief Pichai Khueanphet and local municipal officials are coordinating the search efforts. Five specialized teams, consisting of administrative personnel, municipal staff, and police, have been mobilized to comb the area. Searchers have reported finding a campfire and hearing sounds resembling human calls, which has provided some hope for the rescue teams.
