Cyber Police Raid Locations in Phrae and Pathum Thani Over Data Breach
Thai authorities have arrested a youth following a cyber investigation into the unauthorized access and sale of personal data from government systems.
On August 13, 2026, Thai Cyber Police conducted raids in Phrae and Pathum Thani provinces, resulting in the arrest of a youth suspected of stealing personal data and selling it on the dark web. The operation followed a formal complaint from the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society regarding data leaks originating from the Department of Land Transport and the Department of Provincial Administration.
Investigators identified suspicious IP addresses linked to three specific accounts: the Bangkok Noi District Office, the Expressway Authority of Thailand, and the Surasei Task Force. In response, the Ministry of Transport has temporarily suspended access for these units. Furthermore, all agencies connected to the Department of Land Transport’s e-Service system have been instructed to reset their passwords to prevent further unauthorized access. A specialized task force, led by the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB), is currently interrogating IT personnel from the affected agencies to determine how the systems were compromised.
For residents and travelers, this incident highlights potential vulnerabilities in government digital services. While authorities are working to secure these systems, it remains to be confirmed how much personal information was compromised and whether other government portals remain at risk. Users of Thai e-services are advised to monitor their accounts for unusual activity while the investigation continues.
