Thai and Lao authorities have launched a collaborative field operation to monitor water levels and sediment quality along the Mekong River.
The Department of Water Resources (DWR) of Thailand has announced a joint initiative with the Lao People's Democratic Republic to conduct a comprehensive survey of the Mekong River. According to an official report published on August 13, 2026, teams from the DWR’s regional office (DWR 3) have been deployed to the river to measure water volume and collect samples of suspended and riverbed sediments.
