Thai Government Reports Surge in Excise Tax Enforcement
Authorities have processed over 32,000 illegal excise cases in the first ten months of the 2026 fiscal year, with tobacco products accounting for the majority of violations.
According to the Thailand Government Public Relations Department, the government has intensified its crackdown on goods violating excise tax regulations. Data covering the first ten months of the 2026 fiscal year indicates that authorities have successfully apprehended individuals in 32,812 cases related to illegal excise products.
These enforcement actions have resulted in 901.82 million baht in collected fines, with total projected fines estimated to reach 4,508.18 million baht. Tobacco products represent the most significant portion of these infractions, accounting for 20,160 cases, which constitutes more than 61% of the total volume of illegal activity recorded during this period.
