Specifically, in the Chaiyaburi sub-district of Tha Uthen district, the Songkhram River is unable to discharge into the Mekong River due to high water levels caused by the Mekong’s backflow. This obstruction has resulted in water overflowing into residential areas. In response, local residents have been forced to relocate livestock, including cattle, buffalo, and pigs, to higher ground. Many households are also actively moving stored rice and essential belongings to protect them from the rising water.
