Rayong Police Arrest Cambodian Gang for Motorcycle Theft Ring
Authorities in Rayong have apprehended four Cambodian nationals accused of stealing motorcycles to smuggle across the border for resale.
On August 12, 2026, police in Wang Chan, Rayong, announced the arrest of four Cambodian nationals—three men and one woman—linked to a motorcycle theft syndicate. According to Khaosod Online Thailand, Deputy Commander of Rayong Provincial Police, Police Colonel Torsak Sarirat, confirmed that the group had been targeting specific popular motorcycle models across several districts, including Ban Khai, Pluak Daeng, Mueang Rayong, and Wang Chan.
Police seized 10 stolen motorcycles as evidence. Investigators detailed specific incidents, such as a theft on July 27, 2026, where suspects identified as 'Ko,' 'Mike,' and 'Guy' allegedly stole a Honda Giorno from a rental property in Chum Saeng. Another attempt involving a Honda PCX on August 9, 2026, was interrupted by the vehicle's owner.
For residents and travelers in the region, this case highlights the importance of securing vehicles, particularly popular models that are frequently targeted by organized theft rings. While these arrests represent a significant disruption to the operation, the investigation remains ongoing. Authorities are currently pursuing the remaining members of the gang who managed to evade capture. It is not yet confirmed how many additional motorcycles may have been successfully smuggled across the border prior to the arrests.
