Police Seize 80kg of Crystal Methamphetamine in Roi Et
Authorities in Yasothon intercepted a large shipment of crystal meth hidden in a pickup truck at a resort in Roi Et province.
On August 12, 2026, police from Yasothon City Station conducted a raid at a resort in Ban Dong Sawang, Saen Suk sub-district, Phanom Phrai district, Roi Et province. According to Khaosod Online Thailand, officers discovered 80 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine (ice) concealed inside a grey four-door Chevrolet pickup truck parked next to a guest room.
The operation followed intelligence reports suggesting that a large quantity of narcotics was being transported into the Yasothon area. Police had been monitoring major and secondary roads before locating the suspicious vehicle at the resort. After waiting for the suspects to return to the vehicle without success, officers proceeded to inspect the truck, where they found the drugs and one mobile phone.
For residents and travelers, this incident highlights ongoing law enforcement efforts to curb drug trafficking in the region. While the seizure prevents a significant amount of narcotics from reaching the streets, the suspects remain at large. Authorities are currently analyzing the evidence, including the mobile phone, to identify the vehicle's owner and dismantle the associated drug network.
