Rescue Volunteers Suspended Following Violent Altercation with Taxi Driver at MRT Fai Chai
A group of rescue volunteers has been suspended after a road rage incident escalated into a violent assault on a taxi driver at the MRT Fai Chai station.
According to a report by Khaosod Online, a violent confrontation occurred on August 12, 2026, involving a taxi driver and several rescue volunteers. The incident reportedly began as a road rage dispute involving aggressive driving and tailgating, which escalated into a physical altercation near the MRT Fai Chai station. Video footage circulating on social media shows three to four individuals identified as rescue volunteers attacking the taxi driver near the station's coin exchange area after the driver attempted to seek help.
The taxi driver sustained serious injuries, including broken ribs, a broken nose, and a fractured cheekbone. Additionally, the taxi vehicle suffered extensive damage, with all windows reportedly smashed. Both parties have filed reports with the Bang Khun Non Police Station.
In response to the incident, the foundation overseeing the volunteers has officially suspended the individuals involved from their duties. For residents and travelers, this incident highlights the risks associated with road disputes in Bangkok. While the foundation has taken disciplinary action, the legal proceedings at the Bang Khun Non Police Station are ongoing. It remains to be confirmed how the judicial process will address the specific charges against the volunteers and whether further administrative actions will be taken by the foundation once the investigation concludes.
