Ashes of Former Phra Pathom Chedi Abbot Interred in Nakhon Pathom
A formal ceremony was held in Nakhon Pathom to inter the ashes of the late Phra Phrom Wethi, the former abbot of Wat Phra Pathom Chedi.
According to a report by Khaosod Online, a ceremony was recently held to inter the ashes of the late Phra Phrom Wethi (Suthep Phussadhammo), the former advisor to the Ecclesiastical Regional Governor of Region 15 and former abbot of Wat Phra Pathom Chedi. The event took place at the Rom Pho Meditation Center, located beneath the sacred Bodhi tree at the Phra Pathom Chedi complex in Nakhon Pathom province.
Nakhon Pathom Governor Arocha Nanthamontri presided over the ceremony, which was attended by local officials, including Deputy Governor Narongwit Phopphan, Nakhon Pathom Provincial Police Commander Pol. Maj. Gen. Phithak Uppaphong, and provincial cultural representatives. Phra Si Wisutthiwong, the Deputy Ecclesiastical Provincial Governor, served as the presiding monk for the religious proceedings.
For residents and visitors, this event marks a significant moment of closure for the local Buddhist community regarding the passing of a prominent religious leader. Phra Phrom Wethi, born Suthep Busabok in 1941 in Samut Songkhram, served as a long-standing figure in the region's ecclesiastical history.
