Thai Government and Private Sector Collaborate to Streamline Business Regulations

The Joint Standing Committee on Commerce, Industry and Banking (JSCCIB) has praised the government's efforts to remove regulatory hurdles, prioritizing 11 immediate reforms to boost national competitiveness.

According to Khaosod Online, the Joint Standing Committee on Commerce, Industry and Banking (JSCCIB) has expressed appreciation for the Thai government’s recent commitment to revising laws and regulations that hinder business operations. This progress follows collaborative discussions within the public-private economic committee (Kor-Ror-Or), led by Deputy Prime Minister Pakorn Nilprapan.

Out of 58 proposed regulatory amendments, the government has categorized 11 items for immediate implementation. These reforms aim to reduce operational costs, simplify bureaucratic procedures, and minimize ambiguity in legal interpretations. An additional 21 proposals are currently being coordinated with relevant agencies, while the remaining 26 are undergoing further policy impact studies.

For residents and business owners, these changes are intended to create a more agile economic environment by reducing the time and expense associated with compliance. For travelers, while these reforms primarily target the corporate sector, they may eventually lead to a more efficient service landscape. It remains to be confirmed how quickly these 11 priority items will be fully enacted and what specific sectors will experience the most immediate relief. The government’s focus remains on delivering tangible results that improve the overall ease of doing business in Thailand.
