Thai Airways Reports Strong Financial Performance for First Half of 2026

Thai Airways has announced a net profit of 11.645 billion baht for the first half of 2026, driven by increased passenger revenue despite rising fuel costs.

According to a report from Khaosod Online Thailand, Thai Airways (THAI) has released its financial results for the second quarter of 2026. The airline recorded a net profit of 1.537 billion baht for the quarter, bringing the total net profit for the first six months of the year to 11.645 billion baht.

Total revenue for the second quarter, excluding one-time items, reached 48.621 billion baht, marking an 8.5% increase compared to the same period last year. This growth is largely attributed to a 20.3% rise in average passenger revenue per unit, following the airline's decision to adjust fuel surcharge rates to align with global jet fuel price trends and market competition.

However, the airline also faced significant cost pressures. Total expenses, excluding one-time items, rose by 29.7% to 44.930 billion baht. This increase was primarily driven by a 104.6% surge in average jet fuel prices, linked to ongoing instability in the Middle East. Consequently, the airline reported an operating profit before financial costs of 3.691 billion baht.

For travelers and residents, these figures suggest a stable operational outlook for the national carrier, though the volatility of global fuel prices remains a factor to monitor. While the airline has successfully managed its liquidity to support sustainable growth, the impact of external geopolitical factors on future ticket pricing and operational costs remains to be confirmed.
