Driver Injured After Collision and Vehicle Fire in Lat Phrao
A ride-hailing driver was hospitalized following a multi-vehicle collision and subsequent fire on Prasert-Manukitch Road.
On August 12, 2026, a serious traffic incident occurred on Prasert-Manukitch Road (Kaset-Nawamin) in the Lat Phrao district of Bangkok. According to Khaosod Online, a male driver, approximately 30 years old, was operating a vehicle after completing a ride-hailing service shift when his car was struck from behind by an unidentified pickup truck.
The impact caused the driver to lose control, resulting in his vehicle crashing into a tree and a utility pole. Shortly after the collision, a fire broke out at the front of the car, engulfing the entire vehicle. Emergency responders from the Lat Phrao fire station and the Poh Teck Tung Foundation arrived at the scene around 4:34 a.m. to extinguish the blaze, which took approximately 10 minutes to bring under control.
The driver, who sustained injuries from the impact, managed to escape the vehicle before it was fully consumed by flames and was subsequently transported to a hospital for treatment.
For residents and travelers in the area, this incident highlights the risks associated with high-speed traffic on the Kaset-Nawamin route. While the driver provided an account of being rear-ended, authorities have yet to identify the pickup truck involved or confirm the specific circumstances that led to the hit-and-run. Investigations are ongoing to locate the second vehicle and verify the sequence of events.
