Thai Gem and Jewelry Exports Rise for Fourth Consecutive Month
Thailand's gem and jewelry exports, excluding gold, grew by 15.73% in June 2026, marking four months of continuous growth despite challenges in the U.S. market.
According to a report by Prachachat Business, Thailand’s gem and jewelry sector—excluding gold—recorded a strong performance in June 2026, with export values reaching $881.29 million. This represents a 15.73% increase, sustaining a growth trend that has persisted for four consecutive months. The sector has benefited from increased demand across several key international markets.
However, the report highlights a notable decline in exports to the United States, which fell by 7.87%. This downturn is attributed to a cooling-off period following a surge in imports during the preceding months. Industry observers, including the Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand (GIT), are now closely monitoring potential trade policy shifts. Specifically, there is concern regarding the impact of the U.S. Section 301 investigation, which could introduce a 12.5% tariff on certain goods, potentially intensifying competitive pressures for Thai exporters.
For residents and travelers, this data reflects the resilience of a significant segment of the Thai economy. While the jewelry industry remains a vital part of the local market, the potential for new U.S. trade tariffs remains a key uncertainty. Stakeholders are waiting to see how these trade measures might evolve and whether they will significantly alter the export landscape in the coming months.
