Water Supply Disruption in Pathum Thani Following Vandalism

On August 11, 2026, local officials in Bang Phut, Pathum Thani, reported that a water pipe located under the bridge crossing the Khlong Prem Prachakorn canal was damaged by spear-fishing activity. According to Khaosod Online, individuals using spear guns in the canal struck the three-inch diameter pipe, causing it to burst.

This incident has disrupted the water supply for more than 1,000 households in Moo 1 and Moo 5 of Bang Phut sub-district since the afternoon of August 10. Local authorities have noted that this is the third or fourth time such damage has occurred due to similar activities. While repair crews from the local administrative organization completed work on the damaged section by midday on August 11, residents living at the end of the supply line in Moo 5 reported that they still lacked access to running water as of the time of the report.

For residents and visitors in the area, this disruption highlights potential utility instability caused by local recreational activities. While the immediate physical damage has been addressed by repair teams, the restoration of full water pressure to all affected households remains ongoing. It is not yet confirmed when full service will be restored to the furthest points of the distribution network or if local authorities will implement measures to prevent further damage to infrastructure from spear-fishing equipment.
