German Tourist Found Deceased Following Drowning Incident at Freedom Beach

On August 10, 2026, a drowning incident occurred at Freedom Beach in Karon, Phuket, involving two German tourists. According to Khaosod Online Thailand, emergency responders were initially able to rescue 28-year-old Michelle Anduk. However, 30-year-old Jannik Juergen Nobel remained missing following the incident.

Search operations were significantly hampered on August 11 due to severe weather conditions and high waves, which prevented standard maritime search efforts for much of the day. Rescue teams from the Kusoldharm Foundation of Phuket eventually adjusted their strategy to focus on coastal areas and rock formations. At approximately 3:50 p.m., search teams located Mr. Nobel’s body near the rocks. The remains were transported to Freedom Beach before being transferred to Vachira Phuket Hospital for a formal post-mortem examination.

This incident serves as a somber reminder of the unpredictable sea conditions that can occur along Phuket’s coastline, particularly during periods of strong winds and high surf.
