Bangkok Authorities Restrict Food Distribution on Ratchadamnoen Avenue

According to a report by Matichon Online on August 11, 2026, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has tightened regulations regarding the distribution of food to homeless individuals along Ratchadamnoen Avenue. General Nipat Thonglek, Chairman of the Advisory Board to the Bangkok Governor, announced that officials will now maintain a 24-hour presence in the area to enforce these restrictions.

For residents and travelers, this means that spontaneous charitable activities, such as handing out food directly to individuals on the street in this historic district, are no longer permitted. The BMA is directing those who wish to donate food or provide assistance to instead coordinate with the 'Baan Im Jai' center, a facility designated for the care and support of the homeless population.

This policy shift is intended to centralize support services and manage public space usage in the capital.
