Thailand's Digital Industry Sentiment Rises in Q2 2026

The Digital Economy Promotion Agency (depa) reports a rise in Thailand's digital industry confidence index, driven by AI demand despite rising operational costs.

According to a report published by Khaosod Online on August 11, 2026, the Digital Economy Promotion Agency (depa) has released its Digital Industry Sentiment Index for the second quarter of 2026. The index reached a level of 48.4, marking an increase from the 44.5 recorded in the previous quarter.

The survey covers five key sub-sectors: hardware and smart devices, software, digital services, digital content, and telecommunications. The growth in sentiment is attributed to a rising demand for Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies across these sectors. However, the industry continues to face significant economic headwinds, specifically regarding the increasing costs of energy and semiconductor chips.

For residents and those working within Thailand’s tech ecosystem, this data suggests a period of expansion fueled by global AI trends, though the sustainability of this growth may depend on how businesses manage rising overheads. Operators have expressed a desire for further government support to mitigate these financial pressures. While the index shows a positive trend, it remains to be seen how the government will respond to these calls for assistance and whether the rising costs of energy and components will eventually dampen the current momentum in the digital sector.
