Thailand Prepares 'Thai Tiew Thai Plus' Tourism Stimulus for October Launch

According to Khaosod Online Thailand, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports is developing a new domestic tourism stimulus program titled 'Thai Tiew Thai Plus.' Minister Surasak Phancharoenworakul announced that the initiative, which utilizes a government co-payment model, is designed to support travel across all provinces equally, removing the previous distinction between primary and secondary cities.

For travelers and residents, this program represents a potential opportunity to receive government-subsidized travel benefits, similar to successful past phases of domestic tourism support. The initiative is intended to maintain momentum in the tourism sector during the transition into the final quarter of the year.

Several details remain to be confirmed. The Ministry is currently awaiting a formal study on the system from the Ministry of Finance. Officials aim to finalize these details by the end of August 2026 to secure approval from the Cabinet. While the government initially hoped for a September launch, the current timeline targets an October 2026 start date. Further discussions are scheduled for August 14, 2026, during the first meeting of the National Tourism Policy Committee, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce Supachai Suthumpun. Until these administrative steps are completed, the specific eligibility criteria and the exact structure of the co-payment remain subject to change.
