Thai Cabinet Approves Key Appointments for Transport and State Agencies
The Thai Cabinet has announced new leadership for the Ministry of Transport and extended terms for two major government secretaries.
On August 11, 2026, the Thai Cabinet approved a series of high-level administrative appointments. According to Deputy Government Spokesperson Lalida Periwattana, Mr. Piyapong Jiwatnakulpaisarn, currently the Director-General of the Department of Highways, has been appointed as the new Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Transport. This transition is scheduled to take effect on October 1, 2026, to fill the vacancy created by the upcoming retirement of the current official.
In addition to the transport ministry appointment, the Cabinet approved a one-year term extension for the Secretary-General of the Cabinet and the Secretary-General of the Board of Investment (BOI).
