Minor International Acquires Bonchon International Rights Outside the U.S.

Minor International (MINT) has finalized a $50 million deal to acquire Bonchon International, securing intellectual property rights for the brand outside the United States.

According to a report by Prachachat Business, Minor International Public Company Limited (MINT) has officially notified the Stock Exchange of Thailand regarding its acquisition of Bonchon International. The deal, valued at approximately 1.65 billion baht ($50 million), grants MINT full control over the intellectual property rights of the 'Bonchon' brand for all markets outside of the United States.

For residents and travelers in Thailand and other international markets, this acquisition signifies a strategic shift in how the popular Korean fried chicken chain will be managed and expanded. By bringing the brand under its corporate umbrella, MINT aims to bolster its revenue streams through increased franchise operations and royalty fees.

While the acquisition marks a significant consolidation of the brand's international footprint, several details remain to be confirmed. It is not yet clear how this change in ownership will impact existing menu offerings, store operations, or the pace of new branch openings in the immediate future. Consumers should watch for potential updates regarding operational changes as MINT integrates the brand into its existing portfolio of hospitality and food service businesses.
