Thai SME Federation Proposes 10 Billion Baht Tourism Development Plan

According to a report by Matichon Online, the Federation of Thai SMEs has proposed a new initiative aimed at stimulating the economy through the development of secondary cities. The federation is calling for the reactivation of provincial Joint Public-Private Committees (JPPC) to oversee a 10 billion baht investment project.

This proposal focuses on enhancing tourism infrastructure and local attractions across 50 provinces that are currently considered secondary destinations. By empowering local committees to manage these funds, the federation aims to distribute economic benefits more evenly across the country rather than concentrating them in major hubs.

For travelers and residents, this initiative could lead to improved facilities, better-maintained local landmarks, and more diverse travel options outside of Thailand’s primary tourist centers. If implemented, the project may significantly alter the landscape of regional tourism by increasing accessibility and promoting lesser-known cultural sites.
