Thailand Announces Toll-Free Expressway Travel for Mother’s Day

According to a report from Khaosod Online, the Expressway Authority of Thailand (EXAT) under the Ministry of Transport has announced that toll fees will be waived on three specific expressways on Wednesday, August 12, 2026. This initiative commemorates Mother’s Day, which also coincides with the birthday of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother.

The toll exemption will be in effect for 24 hours, starting from 00:01 until 24:00. The affected routes include the Chalerm Mahanakhon Expressway (21 toll plazas), the Si Rat Expressway (32 toll plazas), and the Udon Ratthaya Expressway (10 toll plazas).

For residents and travelers, this policy offers a cost-saving opportunity for those planning to commute or travel within the Bangkok metropolitan area and surrounding provinces during the public holiday. The measure is implemented in accordance with government policy and the terms outlined in the revised concession agreements between EXAT and Bangkok Expressway and Metro Public Company Limited (BEM).

While these three routes are confirmed for the exemption, motorists should remain aware that other expressways not mentioned in the announcement will continue to operate under standard toll collection procedures. Travelers are advised to check their specific routes in advance to ensure they are covered by this holiday waiver.
