Don Muang Tollway Reports Strong Half-Year Profits Amid Traffic Challenges

According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand, Don Muang Tollway (DMT) has released its financial performance for the first six months of 2026. The company recorded a total revenue of 1,287.58 million baht, resulting in a net profit of 525.16 million baht. Managing Director Sakda Panwai attributed these results to effective cost management strategies.

However, the second quarter saw a decline in traffic volume, with an average of 95,571 vehicles per day. DMT identified several external factors contributing to this slowdown, including rising energy prices and geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, which have increased travel costs and impacted the cost of living. Additionally, the company noted that reduced flight frequencies at Don Mueang Airport during May and June, driven by higher fuel costs, further influenced passenger numbers. The period also included approximately 10 days of consecutive public holidays, which typically affect commuter patterns.

For residents and travelers, these figures highlight the ongoing sensitivity of transport infrastructure to global economic conditions and aviation trends. While DMT maintains a target of 10% revenue growth for the full year by expanding into new business areas, the impact of fluctuating fuel prices and regional stability on daily commuting remains a factor to monitor. It is not yet confirmed how these external economic pressures will evolve throughout the remainder of the year or if they will necessitate further adjustments to tollway operations.
