An unlicensed taxi driver in Ubon Ratchathani has been fined and ordered to refund a passenger after charging an excessive fare for a 94-kilometer trip.
According to a report by Khaosod English on August 11, 2026, an illegal taxi driver in Ubon Ratchathani has admitted to overcharging a passenger from Laos. The driver reportedly charged 4,500 baht for a 94-kilometer journey. Following the incident, the driver agreed to refund 3,600 baht of the fare he had received.
The provincial transport office intervened in the matter, imposing a 2,000-baht fine on the driver for operating a vehicle for an unauthorized type of service.
