Police Chief Orders Investigation into Suspect’s Conduct During Interrogation
Thailand’s Police Chief has launched an inquiry after images surfaced of a high-profile murder suspect smoking during police questioning.
On August 11, 2026, Thailand’s National Police Chief, Pol. Gen. Kitrat Phanphet, announced the formation of a fact-finding committee to investigate police conduct at the Rattanathibet Police Station. The move follows public scrutiny regarding the treatment of Chalong Riewrang, a former Nonthaburi MP and suspect in the murder of Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization President, Pol. Col. Thongchai Yenprasert.
