Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden Hosts 'BGO Open House 2026'
The Botanical Garden Organization held a two-day event in Chiang Mai to showcase plant research and innovation for sustainable economic growth.
On August 10–11, 2026, the Botanical Garden Organization (BGO) hosted the 'BGO Open House 2026' at the Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden in Mae Rim, Chiang Mai. According to Khaosod Online Thailand, the event served as a platform to demonstrate the organization's capabilities in botanical research, entomology, and bio-innovation.
Monchai Sricharoensak, Director of the Business Development Office at BGO, opened the event, which welcomed representatives from the public and private sectors, including tourism operators, hoteliers, and spa owners. The primary objective was to foster collaboration and bridge the gap between scientific research and practical economic applications, particularly in the fields of bio-economy and health-oriented tourism.
For residents and travelers, this event highlights the growing integration of botanical science into Thailand’s wellness and tourism sectors. Attendees were given access to botanical and entomological laboratories and received insights directly from BGO researchers regarding how plant resources can be transformed into value-added products and services.
While the event successfully showcased current research potential, it remains to be seen how these specific innovations will be integrated into commercial tourism offerings or consumer products in the near future. The BGO aims to continue using such platforms to build networks that support sustainable economic development through biological resources.
