According to a report by Khaosod Online, vendors at the Chainat Municipal Fresh Market are selling jasmine for nearly 2,000 baht per kilogram, a sharp rise from the typical price range of 550 to 700 baht.
Local flower sellers attribute this surge to heavy, persistent rainfall across many regions, which has hindered jasmine production and limited supply. This supply shortage, combined with current economic conditions, has resulted in a subdued market atmosphere. Vendors report that sales are slower than in previous years, and many have opted to cancel promotional offers due to the high cost of raw materials. While garlands are still available, prices vary from 20 to 200 baht depending on size and craftsmanship.
For residents and travelers, this means that traditional floral gifts for Mother's Day may be more expensive or harder to find than usual.
