On August 11, 2026, Wat Phang Muang in the Wang Nam Sap sub-district of Suphan Buri province hosted a celebration for the 49th birthday of its abbot, Phra Maha Manop Kittimano. The event, attended by local officials including Udom Prongfa, President of the Suphan Buri Provincial Administrative Organization, featured a merit-making ceremony where 2,000 bags of rice were distributed to the community.
For residents and travelers, Wat Phang Muang is recognized as a site of local cultural interest, particularly for its reputation regarding fortune-telling rituals and the presence of a large brass statue of Thao Wessuwan, which is noted as the largest of its kind in the province. During the festivities, attendees participated in traditional lottery-related customs, focusing on the abbot’s age and numbers revealed by incense sticks burned before the Thao Wessuwan statue. These activities led to a rapid sell-out of lottery tickets at local stalls.
