CKPower Reports Half-Year Profit Decline Amid El Niño Preparations
CKPower announces a 22% drop in half-year operating profit and is enhancing water monitoring systems to mitigate potential El Niño impacts.
According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand, CKPower, a major regional renewable energy producer, has released its financial results for the first half of 2026. The company reported an operating net profit of 326 million baht for the six-month period, representing a 22% decrease compared to the same timeframe in 2025. For the second quarter of 2026, the profit stood at 210 million baht, a 40% decline year-on-year.
Thanawat Trivisvavet, Managing Director of CKPower, attributed the decline primarily to reduced electricity sales revenue from the Bangpa-in Cogeneration (BIC) and Nam Ngum 2 power plants. In response to the anticipated arrival of the El Niño weather phenomenon, the company is accelerating the development of advanced water monitoring and forecasting systems to better manage its hydroelectric operations.
