Special Security Measures Implemented for Chalong Riewrang in Nonthaburi
Authorities have deployed a 20-officer special task force to guard former MP Chalong Riewrang in his detention cell following the fatal shooting of the Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization President.
According to a report by Khaosod Online on August 10, 2026, Nonthaburi police have taken extraordinary security precautions regarding the detention of former Nonthaburi Member of Parliament, Chalong Riewrang. Mr. Chalong is currently being held at the Rattanathibet Police Station following his arrest for the fatal shooting of Police Colonel Thongchai Yenprasert, the President of the Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization.
Police Colonel Supachai Srisak, Superintendent of the Nonthaburi Provincial Police Investigation Division, has ordered a 20-member armed special task force to guard the detention cell around the clock. This measure was implemented due to intelligence suggesting that associates of the late Colonel Thongchai, a prominent figure in the province, might attempt to retaliate against the suspect while he is in custody. Furthermore, authorities have mandated that all food and water provided to the suspect must be supplied exclusively by his legal counsel.
For residents and visitors in the Nonthaburi area, this incident highlights a high-profile criminal case involving local political figures. While the police presence is concentrated at the Rattanathibet station, those in the vicinity should remain aware of potential heightened tensions. It remains to be confirmed how the court will rule on the police’s request to deny bail when Mr. Chalong is presented to the Nonthaburi Provincial Court tomorrow.
