Bangkok police have intercepted a major shipment of one ton of crystal methamphetamine originating from Northern Thailand.
On August 10, 2026, the Metropolitan Police Bureau announced the arrest of four individuals involved in a large-scale drug trafficking operation. According to Khaosod Online Thailand, authorities seized one ton of crystal methamphetamine, which was discovered packed into tea bags inside 40 rainbow-colored sacks.
Police officials, including Commissioner Lieutenant General Siam Boonsom, stated that the narcotics were transported from Northern Thailand and were intended for distribution to customers within the Bangkok metropolitan area. The arrests of the four suspects—identified as Ms. Jaruwan (44), Ms. Chai (48), Mr. Charoen (36), and Mr. Boon-yong (41)—followed an investigation into a broader drug trafficking network.
