On August 10, 2026, the Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) released a 24-hour weather forecast warning of heavy rainfall across significant portions of Thailand. This weather pattern is driven by a monsoon trough passing through the upper North and Laos, combined with a relatively strong southwest monsoon covering the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand.
Residents and travelers in 38 provinces are advised to exercise caution regarding potential flash floods and forest runoff, particularly in low-lying areas and regions near mountain slopes. The forecast indicates a 70% chance of thunderstorms in the Northern and Northeastern regions, with heavy rain expected in provinces including Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Udon Thani, and Ubon Ratchathani. Bangkok is also expected to experience significant rainfall.
Marine conditions are currently hazardous. The upper Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf of Thailand are experiencing strong winds, with wave heights reaching 2 to 3 meters, and exceeding 3 meters in areas with thunderstorms. The TMD has advised mariners to navigate with extreme caution and avoid areas with thunderstorms. Specifically, small boats in the upper Andaman Sea and upper Gulf of Thailand are advised to remain ashore.
