Tiger Sighting in Mae Kasi Village Sparks Local Concern
Authorities confirm a tiger from Mae Wong National Park entered a village in Nakhon Sawan, prompting safety warnings for residents.
According to a report by Khaosod Online on August 10, 2026, residents of Mae Kasi village in Nakhon Sawan province have been on high alert following the sighting of a large tiger. The animal reportedly emerged from the nearby Mae Wong National Park and killed a dog within the village boundaries, causing significant fear among the local population.
Chayaporn Amradit, Director of the Protected Areas Regional Office 12, confirmed that officials have investigated the incident. Authorities stated that the tiger has since returned to the forest. To ensure public safety, a forward-deployed team has been established to assist villagers, and residents are being advised to exercise caution when traveling at night.
Officials emphasized that this tiger is not the same animal involved in the recent fatal attack on a staff member at the Huai Kha Khaeng Wildlife Sanctuary. While the immediate threat is reported to have subsided, the proximity of the forest to the village remains a point of concern for those living in the area. Travelers visiting the region near the border of Mae Wong National Park and Huai Kha Khaeng should remain vigilant and follow all local guidance provided by park authorities.
