Former Nonthaburi MP Arrested Following Shooting Incident
A former Member of Parliament has been charged after a shooting involving the Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization President.
On August 10, 2026, police in Nonthaburi province reported a violent incident involving Chalong Riewrang, a former Member of Parliament for Nonthaburi. According to Khaosod Online, Chalong allegedly confronted and shot Pol. Col. Thongchai Yenprasert, the President of the Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization (PAO), in front of the PAO office.
Pol. Col. Chokchai Khanacharoen, Deputy Commander of Nonthaburi Provincial Police, confirmed that the suspect used a 9mm handgun during the altercation. The shooting resulted in serious injuries to both Pol. Col. Thongchai and his driver. Following his arrest, Chalong reportedly confessed to the act, citing a financial dispute involving approximately 11 million baht that he claimed was owed to him by the PAO President. Authorities have since filed two charges against the former MP.
