Free MRT Travel for Mothers on National Mother's Day
The Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) is offering free travel for mothers across all four MRT lines on August 12, 2026.
According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand, the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) and its concessionaires have announced a special promotion for National Mother's Day. On August 12, 2026, mothers will be able to travel for free on all four MRT lines currently in operation.
MRTA Governor Kajphajon Udomthamphakdi stated that this initiative is held in honor of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother’s birthday, which coincides with Thailand's National Mother's Day. The offer applies to the MRT Blue Line, the MRT Purple Line, and the lines operated by Eastern Bangkok Monorail (EBM).
For travelers and residents, this provides a convenient way to commute during the holiday. To utilize this benefit, mothers must present themselves at any MRT station to receive a complimentary transit pass. While the announcement covers the four lines under the MRTA's jurisdiction, passengers should verify specific station procedures or potential requirements for identification at the ticket counters upon arrival. As this is a one-day event, regular fare structures will resume on August 13, 2026.
