On August 10, 2026, the Thai Ministry of Defense confirmed that a first lieutenant serving in the Office of Policy and Planning was involved in an incident aboard a commercial flight traveling from Malaysia to Don Mueang Airport. According to Khaosod Online, the officer experienced a psychiatric episode mid-flight, during which he shouted and demanded that the aircraft land immediately. Cabin crew intervened to restrain the individual and restore order.
Ministry spokesperson Rear Admiral Surasan Kongsiri stated that the officer had been undergoing treatment for a pre-existing psychiatric condition related to personal circumstances. The incident occurred when his symptoms unexpectedly flared up during the journey. Following the flight, the officer was transferred to Phramongkutklao Hospital for further observation and medical care.
