Thailand to Launch Two Major Southern Bridge Projects by September 2026

According to a report by Prachachat Business, the Department of Rural Roads is preparing to initiate two major bridge construction projects in Southern Thailand by September 2026. These projects represent a combined investment of 6.695 billion baht and are intended to stimulate the regional economy.

The two infrastructure developments include a bridge crossing Songkhla Lake, valued at 4.841 billion baht, and a bridge connecting to Koh Lanta, with a budget of 1.854 billion baht. The department is scheduled to sign the construction contracts for these projects toward the end of August 2026.

For residents and travelers, these bridges are expected to improve connectivity and accessibility within the southern provinces, potentially reducing travel times and facilitating easier movement between the mainland and island areas.
