Nan Province Implements New Flood Monitoring Platform
Nan Provincial Administrative Organization has launched a new flood warning and water management platform developed through research from the National Research Council of Thailand and Chulalongkorn University.
On August 9, 2026, the Nan Provincial Administrative Organization (PAO) officially integrated a new flood monitoring and warning platform into its local water management strategy. According to a report by Khaosod Online, this initiative utilizes the 'Nan Water Plan,' a research-based innovation supported by the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) and developed in collaboration with Chulalongkorn University.
The project aims to enhance community-level preparedness for flood events by linking local data with a centralized monitoring system. During a site visit on August 9, NRCT Director Dr. Wiparat Dee-ong and representatives from the Office of National Water Resources (ONWR) reviewed the implementation of these tools, which are designed to improve the accuracy of water management and disaster response in the region.
For residents and travelers in Nan, this development represents a proactive effort to mitigate the impact of seasonal flooding.
