Water Quality Monitoring Initiatives in Northeastern Thailand
The Department of Water Resources (DWR) is conducting follow-up inspections on village water supply systems across Kalasin, Roi Et, and Maha Sarakham provinces.
On August 7, 2026, the Department of Water Resources (DWR) announced that its regional office (DWR Region 4) has been conducting field inspections to evaluate the effectiveness of water quality improvements in local village supply systems. These systems were previously assessed and provided with technical recommendations during the 2025 fiscal year.
Officials utilized DR900 field water quality analyzers to collect and test samples at five specific locations: the Chao Tha Subdistrict Administrative Organization (Kalasin), the Phlap Phla Subdistrict Administrative Organization (Roi Et), the Ban Chaeng Subdistrict Administrative Organization (Roi Et), the Na Ngam Subdistrict Administrative Organization (Roi Et), and the Non Phiban Subdistrict Administrative Organization (Maha Sarakham).
For residents and visitors in these areas, this initiative is part of a broader government effort to ensure that local water supplies meet the safety standards set by the Department of Health for consumption and daily use. While these inspections aim to improve long-term quality of life, the current reports focus on the monitoring process itself. It remains to be confirmed how these specific findings will influence future infrastructure upgrades or if further remedial actions will be required at these five sites to reach full compliance with national health standards.
